Brave is getting ready to put its Basic Attention Token into your wallet. The physical one.
The privacy-focused browser company is preparing to launch the Brave Rewards Card, a payment card that lets users earn BAT on everyday purchases. The waitlist had passed 230,000 sign-ups by October 20, 2026, a striking number for a card that does not yet have a public launch date.
What Brave is building
Brave announced the Rewards Card on July 9, 2026, as part of its BAT Roadmap 4.0. The card is planned in both virtual and physical versions, so it can live in a phone wallet or in an actual leather one.
The core idea is to let people earn BAT for transactions that happen outside the Brave browser. That marks a notable break from how BAT rewards have worked so far.
Under the hood, the card will run on the BravePay protocol alongside GENIUS-compliant stablecoins. Stablecoins are crypto tokens designed to hold a steady value, typically pegged to a currency like the dollar.
Several important details are still missing from the public picture. Brave has not named the card issuer, published reward rates, released the full list of supported countries, or committed to a definitive launch date.
A waitlist that grew fast
In early August 2026, the waitlist sat at around 1,000 names. Roughly two months later, it had climbed past 200,000. By October 20, 2026, it had cleared 230,000.
Brave also has a large built-in audience to draw from. The company counts more than 128 million monthly active users.
Background: BAT beyond the browser
BAT has historically been tied to Brave’s privacy-oriented advertising model. Users earned the token for interacting with ads inside the browser, which kept the rewards loop fairly self-contained.
The Rewards Card pushes that loop out into traditional payment rails. Instead of BAT being something you accumulate while browsing, it becomes something you earn while buying groceries.
The card is not the only piece of Roadmap 4.0. Other components, including BravePay and the Creator Contribution Protocol, are still in their initial stages.
What this means
Several open questions remain worth tracking. Brave has not named the card issuer, which will shape which countries get access and how smoothly the product rolls out. Reward rates and the full list of supported countries have also not been disclosed.
For investors watching BAT, the key signals to watch are concrete ones. A named issuer, published reward rates, a country list and a firm launch date would turn a promising waitlist into a measurable product.
