Fitch upgraded Omaha-based Children’s Nebraska’s credit rating to “AA” from “AA-.”
The “AA” rating reflects the system’s “dominant market position as the only comprehensive pediatric healthcare provider in its state and region,” Fitch said in its Oct. 21 report. The agency noted that the successful completion of the Hubbard Center for Children expansion project has helped stabilize and support the system’s strong financial profile, operating cash flow levels and market share.
Nebraska’s approval of Medicaid state-directed payments also supports the upgrade, Fitch said. The payments have strengthened Children’s already solid balance sheet and are helping offset rising operating costs.
The system has a stable outlook at its new rating.
