Americans pay more for gas in Trump’s second term than under Biden: AAA

CryptoBriefing

Recent data from the American Automobile Association (AAA) indicates that Americans have experienced higher gasoline and diesel prices on average during President Donald Trump’s second term compared to the prices under his predecessor, Joe Biden. The average gasoline price during Trump’s current term stands at approximately $3.472 per gallon, slightly above Biden’s average of $3.471. This pricing trend marks a shift from Trump’s first term, where gas prices were significantly lower.

The revelation of higher fuel costs during Trump’s administration may carry implications for political dynamics, particularly ahead of the upcoming Senate elections. This development has potential ramifications for the Republican party’s prospects in maintaining control of the Senate, as economic factors like fuel prices often influence voter sentiment. The data could suggest a decreased likelihood of Republican success in light of the economic record under Trump.

Market activity appears to reflect these concerns, with prediction markets showing mixed sentiment regarding the Republican party’s chances. Currently, odds for Republicans winning the Senate with oil prices below $85 are low, whereas scenarios with oil prices above $85 show higher support for a Republican win. This suggests that market participants may be factoring in the impact of fuel prices on political outcomes.
