ST. PETERSBURG - Between the "Let's go Brewers" chants and cheers when the Crew was working its magic, it sounded like it could've been a home game.
But, the Brewers are in Florida at Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays, for Game 3 of the World Series. Rays fans are loud, too, don't get us wrong.
But, the Brewers fans in attendance did what they do best − show up, loud and proud.
Some made the voyage from the cheese state, others are Wisconsin natives, elated that their team would be playing on baseball's biggest stage in the state that they're living in now.
When asked how big of Brewers fans father and son Joe and Daniel Coombs are, they told us "11 out of 10."
"It's been 44 years. If it's another 44, I'm probably not going to be around," Joe said. "We decided we had to do it now when we had the chance."
But, prices at AmFam Field "got a little out of hand." With tickets available for Tropicana Field though, the Franklin residents "jumped on it." Joe estimated that they saved between $1,500 and $2,000 total by making that call. They got into town Sunday afternoon, just in time to tune into the Packers game, and are heading home Tuesday morning.
Joe Gibson and his son, Jared, are going to all of the World Series games, including the ones in Florida.
"We've been waiting for this moment for a long, long time," said Joe, a Brewers season ticket holder.
"We had the availability to come and we just said, you know what? 'This is a once in a lifetime things, so let's come and do it," Joe said.
A group of lifetime Brewers fans from Milwaukee's suburbs tuned into Games 1 and 2 from Lexington, Kentucky, where they were attending a bachelor party. They tacked one more day onto their trip and found flights to Tampa.
"We had to make one," Sam Treffert said.
Dan Bielinski, who's been a Brewers fan since the team came to Milwaukee, was already going to be in Florida to see his daughter, Holly Hass, run a Disney World half-marathon.
"When Tampa made it in, we said, 'We're going to Tampa. We're making it to one of the games. And, here we are," said Hass, who joined the fandom just a few weeks ago.
"Getting to see how happy he is is really the best thing," Hass said.
"This, to me, is beyond exciting," Bielinski said. "I am so honored to be a part of this team."
Many Brewers fans live in Florida
"A house completely divided": Tonya Brennan is a lifelong Brewers fan, and her husband, Florida native Pat Brennan, is a lifelong Rays fan.
While Tonya was at work, Pat surprised her with tickets to Game 3. "She was mad at me that day," he joked.
If the Brewers win, Tonya said she'll be a "very happy wife."
The Jedrzejewski family is originally from West Allis, "right down the road" from the Brewers ballpark.
Having recently moved to the Tampa Bay area, they were excited that the Crew would be heading their way.
"This is (the) first World Series for all of us," said Karen Jedrzejewski as a chant of "Let's go Brewers" broke out by fans passing by.
Waukesha native Jewel Noll grew up watching the Brewers, with her "amazing" grandfather, William Noll, working for the team, parking cars.
With her team playing in the World Series, the Orlando resident said: "I'm going." She was there with her family.
"Once a Brewers fan, always a Brewers fan. That's just how it goes," she said.
Friends Rachel Becker, Leah Nass and Robbie Schmidt are all Miami teachers ... from Wisconsin.
"Being a Brewers fan just kind of bonds you when you're far away from home," Schmidt said. "It's brought us all the way here to the game today."
While the Flipse family is from the Sheboygan area, Kelly and Mike are now Vero Beach residents, and daughter Lizzy lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. They got tickets to see their "beloved" Brewers before Tampa even officially made it to the World Series. Lizzy − who called this "a childhood dream come true" − booked her flight mid-NCLS.
"You can't pass this up. It's once-in-a-lifetime for us," Kelly said.
