FC Samartex Ladies began their 2026/27 Goldfields Ghana Women's Premier League campaign with a goalless draw against Epiphany Warriors at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday.
The Timber Giants Ladies, who narrowly escaped relegation in their maiden season in the top flight, were hoping to kick off the new campaign with a victory in front of their home supporters.
However, despite dominating proceedings and creating several goalscoring opportunities, the home side were unable to find a breakthrough, with the Epiphany Warriors goalkeeper producing an impressive performance to keep Samartex Ladies at bay.
Samartex Ladies enjoyed spells of dominance and created enough chances to secure all three points, but their inability to convert those opportunities proved costly as the visitors held firm to earn a valuable away point.
At the other end, Black Queens first-choice goalkeeper Cynthia Findib Konlan demonstrated her quality when called upon, making crucial interventions to deny Epiphany Warriors from finding the back of the net.
The encounter was the only fixture in the Southern Zone of the Women's Premier League to end without a goal, as both sides settled for a share of the spoils.
For Samartex Ladies, the result offers a point to build on as they look to improve on last season's struggles and establish themselves more firmly in the competition.
The Timber Giants Ladies will now turn their attention to their Matchday Two fixture, where they travel to face Oak FC, hoping to secure their first win of the new campaign.
