On Sunday, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Toronto Raptors 117-94 to start the season at 3-0. A big factor was Jonathan Kuminga. He scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Head coach Chris Finch praised Kuminga’s impact and willingness to work, per Reddit.
“He’s doing everything we asked him to do, or everything he said he wanted to do when he came here about guarding, defending, hustle plays, all that kind of stuff, rebounding a good clip.”

As the season goes on, Kuminga is a player to watch for a Timberwolves team that is slated to be a top draw. Kuminga is a veteran forward playing alongside a who’s who of elite athletes, including Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, Rudy Gobert, and LaMelo Ball.
Kuminga is shooting 48% from the field and averaging 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. Overall, Kuminga brings a triple threat of frontcourt defense, secondary scoring, and athleticism to the Timberwolves.
Kuminga has played 5 years in the NBA. He played for the Golden State Warriors in his first four years in the league. In 2022, he won an NBA championship with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green while playing under Steve Kerr.
Also, he became one of the youngest players in NBA history to win a championship at 19 years old.
The moves the Timberwolves made in the offseason to revamp their roster make them a prime contender for a high seed in the Western Conference. From there, they are primed to make a deep playoff run.
The Timberwolves will play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday at 6:00 pm CST/7:00 pm EST.
