Digboi, Oct 28: Police have launched a search for two sisters, aged 27 and 14, who went missing after leaving their home in the No. 2 Borbil area of Digboi in Assam’s Tinsukia district to buy groceries on October 26.
The sisters, Soita Das, 27, and Eshika Das, 14, daughters of Tarun Das and Archana Das, left home at around 11 am on Monday and have not returned, leaving their family anxious about their whereabouts.
Their father said he repeatedly tried to contact them, with both phones ringing until around 2 pm before becoming unreachable.
“I have kept calling them throughout the night but have failed to reach them. I am calling on their phones after every 10 minutes,” Tarun told The Assam Tribune.
The family has lodged a complaint at Digboi Police Station. Police personnel have also visited their residence and sought details about the missing sisters, he said.
In his complaint dated October 26, Tarun stated that his daughters had been missing since around 10.30 am that day. The complaint also described the clothes they were wearing when they left home.
Soita was wearing blue trousers and a gold-coloured high-neck top, while Eshika was wearing black trousers and a black top.
Tarun said there had been no major disagreement at home before the sisters left. He described their departure as routine and said they appeared to be in good spirits.
“There have been no major fights. They left smiling and happy,” he said.
As the search continues, the family has appealed to the public for information that could help trace the sisters.
“All I want is for them to return home, wherever they are,” Tarun said, making an emotional appeal for his daughters to come back safely.
Anyone who may have seen Soita or Eshika or has information about their whereabouts is urged to contact the family or Digboi Police.
