A young woman from Wexford, charged with making two alleged false statements to gardaí, has had her case adjourned until next year.
Rhiannon O’Brien (19), of Beachside Drive, Riverchapel, Courtown Harbour, Co Wexford, appeared at a sitting of Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court charged with two counts of making a false statement.
It is alleged that on June 22, 2025, at Bray Garda Station, Ms O’Brien knowingly made a false statement to a Detective Sergeant and a Detective Garda.
She is charged under Section 12(a) of the Criminal Law Act 1976, which carries a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment on indictment.
Ms O’Brien informed the court that her case is currently affected by the legal aid dispute.
Her solicitor, Dermot Hickey, is participating in the withdrawal of services, following a dispute between criminal defence solicitors and the Government over proposed legal aid reforms introduced on July 1 by Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan.
Judge Patrick Quinn adjourned the case until January 12, 2027.
