Briefly News also reported that the father who fought off hijackers while defending himself and his daughters has received an outpouring of support after the story went viral on social media. Sidney Hill survived a shooting incident during a hijacking, an ordeal that left him with unexpected legal costs and his children in need of professional counselling to work through the trauma they experienced. By the generosity of hundreds of strangers, a crowdfunding campaign set up in his name has raised more than R258 000 in just three days. As the sole parent responsible for his family, the financial weight of those additional demands quickly became unmanageable.
