Angel Reese has picked up a huge fan in Kevin Durant.
The WNBA Finals have turned into a proper heavyweight scrap, with Golden State edging ahead 3-2 after grinding out a tense 64-55 win in Game 5.
Even with Atlanta trailing, Angel Reese has been incredible on the glass throughout the series. She’s averaging around 16 points and nearly 13 rebounds across the five games, headlined by a ridiculous 30-point, 16-rebound clinic to take Game 2 in the Bay.
However, the Valkyries have kept her under wraps in games four and five, going four for 20 from the field.
Kevin Durant praises Angel Reese
Angel Reese has earned plenty of admirers in Atlanta, but Kevin Durant might just be her biggest. KD was full of love for the forward, labelling her “salt of the earth” and insisting he wants nothing more than to see her lift the championship and bag Finals MVP.
This comes after many fans claimed that Durant doesn’t like the Atlanta Dream star.
He said: “I love Angel so much, just a salt to the earth, like a great person, first of all. Just loves basketball, wants to be great, has expanded her game out to the three-point line, finishing better around the rim.
I just love everything about her. I love her family. I love what she stands for. I’m just grateful that she got an opportunity here in Atlanta now. People are embracing her here in the city. Ladies have put on for the game of basketball in the WNBA amazingly so. But Angel, I definitely want her to win finals MVP and win the chip, but I want it to be a great game.”
Durant has already given his props to the WNBA for the growth this season, as well as shutting out any of the outside noise amid the ongoing debate about transgender athletes.
