KL Wellness City executive director Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew said the event aligned with KL Wellness City’s aim of encouraging healthier lifestyles and building a stronger fitness community.
MALAYSIA’S fitness community will have a new competitive event to look forward to with the inaugural ADS Golden 9 Race 2026 scheduled to take place at KL Wellness City Gallery on Dec 19 and 20.
Inspired by the HYROX fitness racing format, the two-day event will combine running with functional fitness challenges, bringing together athletes, gym communities, running clubs and corporate teams.

The event was officially launched at KL Wellness City Gallery, with Institut Sukan Negara Malaysia chief executive officer Dr Vellapandian Ponnusamy attending as guest of honour.
Also present were KL Wellness City executive director Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, ADS Golden 9 Race co-founder Ahmad At Tarmizi Mohd Anizam and Abundance Dynamic Securities business development director Benard Yap.
Organised by Abundance Dynamic Securities (ADS), a Malaysian peer-to-peer financing platform, the event will be co-hosted by PUMP as its official fitness partner, with KL Wellness City serving as venue partner. It is sanctioned by the Malaysian Obstacle Racing and Sports Association.
The competition will feature nine functional fitness stations: a 500m run, 500m RowErg, sandbag stationary lunges, farmer’s carry, 500m SkiErg, deadball slams, sandbag bear-hug carry, burpees and dumbbell thrusters.

Competitors will be able to participate across eight categories and 28 divisions, including Open and Pro individual events, men’s and women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and men’s, women’s and mixed relay events.
The organisers are targeting a total cash prize pool of RM65,600 across the competition categories.
Tiew said the event aligned with KL Wellness City’s aim of encouraging healthier lifestyles and building a stronger fitness community.
“As a HYROX athlete myself, I understand the discipline, resilience and determination required to take on these challenges, as well as the camaraderie that makes the sport so inspiring,” he said.
He added that wellness extended beyond healthcare to include encouraging people to lead active and fulfilling lives.
The organisers also plan to offer brand activations, product showcases, athlete engagement and digital content opportunities for sponsors in the fitness, sports nutrition, performance equipment and wellness sectors.
Proposed promotional activities include athlete interviews, training features, race-day coverage and behind-the-scenes content. However, the participation of proposed athlete and content creator collaborators remains subject to confirmation.
The organisers said further announcements on registration, event operations and participating partners would be made as preparations progressed.
