US President Donald Trump has said he does not want immigrants from Norway in the United States, describing the country as a "shit house country" and linking his remarks to his failure to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Speaking at a political rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday (25 October), ahead of next week's midterm elections, Trump said he would welcome immigrants from some countries but not Norway because he had not received the prestigious award, reports Reuters.
"So I don't want anybody from Norway," he said, referring to the Nobel committee based in Oslo, Norway's capital.
Trump also blamed immigration for recent unrest in France.
Despite his remarks, the Trump administration has not announced any new policy restricting immigration from Norway.
Trump has repeatedly criticised Norway over the decision not to award him the Nobel Peace Prize.
Earlier this month, he described the failure to award him the prize as an "indelible stain" on Norway.
He has previously used the term "shit house country" to describe Haiti, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. His latest remarks have now extended that rhetoric to Norway.
Norway is among the world's highest-income countries by gross domestic product per capita, according to International Monetary Fund data cited in the supplied report.
The country's sovereign wealth fund recorded a profit of 1.75 trillion Norwegian crowns, equivalent to $184.3 billion, in the first half of 2026.
