Steven Gerrard has said Manchester United need a 'complete reset' and believes the bulk of the current squad 'have to go'.
Manchester United have endured the club's worst start to a league since since 1986, and sit 16th in thePremier League after eight games.
Loud boos greeted the full-time whistle following a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford, a result which followed a 4-1 thrashing at Como in the Champions League.
Michael Carrick's future as manager is in doubt, while Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes have stirred the situation with controversial recent comments.
Speaking onThe Overlap Daily, Gerrard said United must rid the dressing room of bad personalities and undergo a complete reset.
"Lisandro Martinez last year, only interested in the World Cup. He's come back, he's seen that the players haven't signed, the three of four that he wants in his world. Selfishly, comes out and speaks. Then gets injured, goes off at half-time with a kick and is fit the next game. That stinks to me.
"You look at the midfield. They've signed a player from Chelsea for £50m, in [Andrey] Santos. He's not a Manchester United player. Then it goes to recruitment, higher up. Why are you signing players that are not good enough to play for Manchester United? Are these the only players you can attract now?
"You look at the sides of the pitch. When I played against United, you had Giggs and Beckham, world-class players. I look at the sides of the pitch, young Amad [Diallo]. Hot and cold. When he's good, he's good, but we haven't seen anything this season. He's been injured a lot.
"The forwards, Mbeumo - good player. Probably one of the shining lights of the season. Cunha's been dropped, so what's he doing? Is he not training right? Is he one of the toxic players? Why is a Brazilian international not starting? He's not doing something right. They've just got problems all over the place. They all have to go. It needs a complete reset from top to the bottom.
"It can change and it will change. But if you're only solving two or three problems, and you've got 50, the same results are going to happen on a football pitch."
