Waterford gardaí are investigating a spate of thefts from premises and vehicles in recent days.
Assistance is being sought from the public in relation to these incidents, said Waterford crime prevention office Sgt Deirdre O’Neill.
The first incident was a burglary sometime between Sunday, October 18, at 11pm, and 7.45am on Thursday, October 22, when the break in was discovered by staff at the food truck, La Vida Loca.
The food truck is located at the old Halfway House car park at Coolgower on the Tramore Road.
“This is a busy location, and we are hoping that other visitors to this location may have observed something that will assist the investigation,” said Sgt O’Neill. Witnesses can contact the crime unit at Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300.
Attempted vehicle thefts
Over the last week, gardaí recorded a rise in thefts of vehicles and attempted thefts. From October 18-20, in Christendom, Ferrybank, attempts were made to steal a 141 red Mazda Demio Hatchback — the suspects were unsuccessful but did cause damage to the vehicle’s ignition and fly window.
The second unauthorised taking attempt was in Spring Garden Alley, in Waterford city on October 20, when a Silver Toyota Estate was damaged as the ignition was interfered with. “Again they were unsuccessful,” said Sgt O’Neill.
CCTV has been sought and investigations are ongoing — if witnesses can assist, contact Waterford Garda Station.

Two thefts of vehicles have been reported, the first from Foxwood housing estate in Kilbarry on Monday, October 19, between 3.30am and 7.30am when an 11 Grey Toyota Viz was stolen. This vehicle was recovered the following day in the Lacken Road area and has been taken for technical examination.
The second theft of a car also occurred on October 19 between 00.15 and 11.30am. It was a 192 Black Nissan March taken from Mary Street in the city, and it was later discovered in the IDA Business Park, Waterford. This has also been taken for technical examination.
Gardaí are asking people to check video doorbells and CCTV for anything that might assist the investigation.
“Again we would encourage people to report any suspected crimes by phoning 999/112 or their local garda station,” added Sgt O’Neill.
“If you see something, say something. Or you can call our audio messaging service on the confidential line on 1800 666 111.”
