The development project will be completed this week on Friday, October 30, with the opening of the final bridge serving traffic from Al Majlis Street towards 2nd December Street
Two years ago, on October 27, 2024, Dubai’s Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) announced a game-changing transformation project at one of Dubai’s key intersections: the Dubai World Trade Centre Roundabout.
Construction began in 2024, with road closures and the opening of bridges taking place over the course of the 24-month project. Now, RTA has confirmed that the final bridge will open this Friday, October 30, completing the development project. The project was set for completion by December 2026, but RTA has completed it two months ahead of schedule.

The new bridge that will open is set to serve traffic from Al Majlis Street towards 2nd December Street. It will extend 1,000 metres with two lanes and a capacity of approximately 3,000 vehicles per hour.
The major goal of the Dhs696 million roadwork project was to enhance traffic flow and connectivity in a busy neighbourhood. And if you’ve ever been around the World Trade Centre over the past few years, you know that it was a busy intersection. The roundabout drew in traffic coming from Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Majlis Street, Al Diyafah Street, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, which caused bumper-to-bumper traffic. And during the popular exhibitions, including the Arabian Travel Market and GITEX Shoppers, the rows and rows of red lights only increased.
With the new bridge openings and intersections, traffic has significantly improved. The project’s initial goal was to reduce delay time from 12 minutes to just 90 seconds, and so far, the response from drivers has been positive.
The entire vision can be seen in this video below shared by RTA to announce the opening of the new bridge.
