Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is put in another awkward position in this evening’s episode of Coronation Street, as love interest Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) suspects that she’s pregnant.
Bethany made her pregnancy discovery a few days ago, and a trip to the doctors allowed her to work out that Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is the father.
Yes, her mum’s ex-boyfriend.
‘I don’t actually know what she was thinking,’ Lucy Fallon admitted as she reflected on Bethany’s one-night stand with Kit.
‘I think they both were in quite a bad place at the time, they were obviously in the flat together, they were trying to deal with a lot of stuff together and I think it was just one of those things that happened.
‘It just happened. It was a one night mistake, I don’t think she has any feelings for him at all in that way.’
Bethany made the decision to book an appointment at an abortion clinic shortly after Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) was released from prison. She was aiming to keep the pregnancy a secret from her mum, but Bethany had no choice but to tell Sarah the news when she was sent to A&E after injuring her wrist.
In this new video, the possibility of Ryan learning Bethany’s secret increases when he visits her at the flat.
The clip shows the moment he finds some folic acid tablets in Bethany’s bag, which are taken at the start of a pregnancy.
Ryan asks Bethany if she’s pregnant, but what will she say?
And how will her answer impact their relationship?
On the baby bombshell, Lucy admitted she was shocked to learn of the direction the story would take: ‘When our producer, Kate [Brooks] was telling me what was happening and then she said that she ends up being pregnant, my jaw was on the floor.
‘I think it’s so good in the sense that now they have got to face the consequences of what they’ve done and they can’t just brush it under the carpet in the way that they wanted to.
‘It’s adding a whole other level of drama for the audience.’
