In a raw and emotional social media rant, she opened up about the family's private struggles.
Sky, the daughter of the late gospel singer and preacher Victor Kanyari, made it clear she was furious with how the case went, though she stopped short of detailing the ruling itself. Her frustration, however, was unmistakable.
How did Tash transform Betty and her kids' lives?
Much of Sky's anger centred on what she described as a damaging online narrative she believes Kanyari has been constructing about Betty.
Without accusing him of name-calling directly, she said the image being created was unfair and untrue.
"He is talking about all these things concerning my mum. Even though he is not directly calling her certain names, he is creating that image online that she was only interested in spending his money. If anything, my mum didn't care about money. She left his house with nothing," Sky said.
She went on to paint a picture of the difficulties the family faced after her mother left Kanyari, recalling a period when they had little more than a small house with no furniture.
"We left and went to stay in that small house. We struggled and had nothing. We didn't even have seats," she said.
Sky was particularly emotional when speaking about her stepfather, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, crediting him with helping the family get back on their feet during their lowest point.
"Tash came into our lives and bought us seats and even our TV. He changed our lives, and you people don't know anything about what we went through. You just judge us based on what our biological father tells you," she said.
Sky acknowledged that the family had largely stayed quiet about the matter until now, which she said had left many people forming opinions based only on one side of the story.
She closed her message with an appeal for public support, saying the emotional weight of the ongoing legal battle had become overwhelming.
"We have never really come out to tell you what we think about the situation. To the people out there, please help us. This situation is really bad," she said.
According to Sky, Tash raised her and her brother well, and she feels more comfortable and secure living with him.
She expressed concern about being taken to live with her biological father, claiming that she does not feel safe in that environment.
Betty, who passed away in November last year, was a well-known Kenyan gospel artiste.
Her relationship and subsequent split from Kanyari was one of the most high-profile separations in Kenyan gospel circles, and the custody of their children has remained a deeply sensitive subject since her death.
