MEPs from various political groups in the European Parliament, including Emil Radev of GERB/EPP, are urging EU transport ministers to resume discussions on ending the seasonal clock change across the European Union. In a letter to the ministers, they call for an EU-wide solution after more than seven years of stalled progress on the European Commission’s legislative proposal. Public opinion polls conducted in various countries show broad support for scrapping the clock change.
“On Sunday, we turned our clocks back by an hour, and the issue may once again be forgotten until March, when we switch to daylight saving time. We have been waiting for years for Europe to put an end to this outdated practice”, Emil Radev commented. He added that changing the clocks twice a year is an outdated and ineffective practice that negatively affects people’s biological rhythms and health and disrupts their daily activities.
