Arch Manning entered the season as a Heisman Trophy favorite and a potential top pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Now, one former ESPN analyst doesn’t think he’ll even be at Texas next year.
Former College GameDay analyst David Pollack said this weekend that, unless things “turn around crazy,” Manning won’t be back with the Longhorns in 2027. Pollack also said an SEC head coach told him he’d be “shocked” if Manning didn’t end up at Georgia.
Manning’s Rough Season
Texas is 5-2 after beating No. 7 Ole Miss on Saturday, but it’s been a bumpy ride for Manning.
The Longhorns lost back-to-back games to Oklahoma and Florida by identical 27-24 scores, with costly late turnovers from Manning in both. After the loss to Florida, Texas reportedly began preparing for a potential quarterback change, and head coach Steve Sarkisian warned Manning that he would make a change unless he showed something different.
Manning responded with three total touchdowns against Ole Miss, but he also had three turnovers in the game and the offense slowed down considerably in the second half of the game.
Despite the win, Manning and the Longhorns still have a tall task ahead of them with a difficult schedule and mounting injuries to star players.
‘Arch Ain’t Gonna Be There Next Year’
Speaking with Takeo Spikes on Bleacher Report, Pollack predicted that Manning will be playing somewhere else next season.
“Unless this turns around crazy, Arch ain’t gonna be there next year,” Pollack said, via Bleacher Report. “Like, I don’t think he’ll be in Texas.”
That said, Pollack thinks that Manning’s departure from Texas will be an “amicable split” with no animosity from either side.
“And I think Arch will be excited, and as long as Sark’s there it will probably be an amicable split,” Pollack said.
He also said he’s heard where Manning could end up.
“I had a head coach in the SEC tell me he’d be shocked if he didn’t end up at Georgia,” Pollack said. “Because, remember he committed to Georgia.”
It’s worth noting that Pollack’s statement isn’t totally accurate. Georgia recruited Manning heavily, but he never actually committed to Georgia out of high school. That said, it would make sense as a possible transfer destination for both the Bulldogs and Manning.
